Contact Improvisation is an open-ended exploration of the kinaesthetic possibilities of bodies moving through contact. Sometimes wild and athletic, sometimes quiet and meditative, it is a form open to all bodies and enquiring minds. This workshop will introduce some of the foundations and basic principles for off-balance, weight sharing and rolling point of contact. The dancers' weight here are to give. We will explore a different way of meeting each other, not in perfect stability, but off my center.
We will use the Taoist concept of Kong Xu (空虚) to investigate this meeting of contact, When two body masses share mutual weight and support, a third entity appears that is more than two, taking us into the dance.
